Originally from El Salvador, Yanira has proudly called the Savannah area home for more than 21 years. Over that time, she has built a life centered around family, service, and relationships. Today, she is the owner of Brightway Insurance, where she helps individuals and families protect what matters most while creating a more personalized insurance experience for her clients.
A Career Built Around Helping People
Yanira’s professional background includes experience in accounting, exportation, sales, and customer service, all of which helped shape the people-first approach she brings into her business today.
She began her insurance career with State Farm, where she developed a strong foundation in the industry before eventually opening her own agency through Brightway Insurance.
What stands out about Yanira is how much she values education and trust in the client experience. As an independent agency owner, she is able to provide multiple coverage options tailored to each family’s unique needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
As a bilingual professional, she is especially passionate about serving Savannah’s Spanish-speaking community. She understands how overwhelming insurance conversations can feel when language becomes a barrier, and she works hard to make sure her clients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the process.
For Yanira, it is not just about policies. It is about helping people feel secure about their future.
Family, Coffee Shops, and Community
Outside of work, Yanira is a proud wife and mother who loves spending quality time with her husband Carlos and their three children: Valerie, Matthew, and Michael.
She also enjoys staying active, visiting local coffee shops, and having meaningful conversations with the people around her. You can tell she genuinely enjoys getting to know others and building relationships within the community.
That passion for connection naturally extends into local involvement as well. Yanira enjoys attending social events, collaborating with others, and supporting nonprofits and community initiatives whenever possible. She is also involved with the Savannah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, where she continues advocating for growth and opportunity within the Hispanic community.
Why Live Like Locals Matters to Her
For Yanira, becoming a Live Like Locals Ambassador is about helping more people feel included and connected within Savannah.
One of the things she is most excited about is creating more opportunities for the Latin community to participate in local events and experiences throughout the city. She understands that language barriers can sometimes make people feel disconnected, and she hopes her bilingual background can help bridge that gap.
At the same time, she loves being able to connect with people from all backgrounds and continue learning from fellow Ambassadors and local professionals along the way.
