About Live Like Locals

Savannah’s community, in person and on camera.

Community events · Digital marketing · Local media

Live Like Locals is a community events, digital marketing and media company based in Savannah. We bring neighbors, families and local businesses together through events, local video series and a free weekly newsletter, and we help local businesses get seen by the people who live around them. We have been doing it since 2018.

Our story

It started with a weekly show about what to do this weekend.

Jose Rosa started Live Like Locals in Savannah in January 2018. After almost 30 years of building brands for other people, he wanted to build something for his own city. It began as a weekly video, the Top Five Savannah Events of the Week, and it ran every week until the pandemic stopped everything in 2020.

In 2021 Jose was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and Live Like Locals went quiet. When he came back in 2023, in remission, he came back with a different idea: people needed to be in the same place again, not just watching a screen.

The first event back, at Tom Triplett Park, drew 212 vendors and more than 6,000 people in one Sunday. Today Live Like Locals runs 50+ events a year, produces four local video series, and handles PR and marketing for the City of Port Wentworth.

“Getting to build something that helps people reach their dreams is a real gift. I am surrounded by great people, and watching us build something together that lifts every one of us is the best part of this work.”

Where we are headed

Savannah is home. The Lowcountry and Jacksonville are next.

We started with the cities around Savannah, beginning with Port Wentworth. Next up are Live Like Locals Lowcountry and Live Like Locals Jacksonville. The plan is the same everywhere: local events, local video and local Ambassadors, run by people who live there.
