For Frederick Hogsett Jr., financial education is not just part of his profession. It is one of the ways he gives back.

With nearly 30 years of experience in financial services, Frederick has spent much of his career helping families, small business owners, nonprofits, churches, and organizations better understand their finances and make more informed decisions about the future.

Now based in Savannah, Frederick brings that experience into his role as a Live Like Locals Ambassador, where he supports local businesses, strengthens community connections, and helps more people feel confident about their financial lives.

A Career Centered on Education

Frederick serves as an Investment Principal and Regional Leader with Primerica Financial Services and PFS Investments. Over the years, he has worked in personal, small business, and nonprofit consulting while building a team of financial professionals across multiple states.

His work includes helping families and business owners review their financial needs, understand protection strategies, reduce debt, plan for retirement, and work toward greater financial independence.

What stands out about Frederick is his focus on teaching.

He is often called on to train financial professionals on products, compliance, and regulations, but his passion extends well beyond the industry itself. Frederick regularly presents complimentary Financial Wellness Workshops for families, schools, churches, organizations, and small businesses.

These sessions are designed to make financial topics more approachable and useful. Rather than talking over people, Frederick focuses on helping them understand the practical steps they can take based on their own goals and circumstances.

For small business owners, he also specializes in retirement plans, employee assistance benefits, retention strategies, and opportunities to reduce taxes while creating stronger workplaces.

Bringing Faith and Finance Together

Frederick’s approach to financial education is also influenced by his faith.

He was instrumental in helping implement Crown Financial Ministries within churches in South Carolina, combining biblical principles with practical financial guidance. That experience allowed him to work with families in a setting built around trust, stewardship, and long-term thinking.

Frederick and his wife, Vonte’, are active in church leadership and continue to value the relationships that grow through service and shared purpose.

For them, community involvement is not something separate from everyday life. It is part of how they connect with others and contribute wherever they are planted.

Starting a New Chapter in Savannah

Frederick and Vonte’ recently moved to Savannah from Columbia, South Carolina. Together, they have four children and two grandchildren, and family remains an important part of their lives.

Their move to Savannah marks both a personal and professional new chapter.

Frederick has established a new office in the area, using his experience to support local families, organizations, and business owners. He is especially interested in helping middle-class families build stronger financial foundations and creating more opportunities for small businesses to grow and give back.

Outside of work, Frederick enjoys fishing, golfing, running, gardening, attending track meets, and going to music concerts.

You may also find him spending time along the Savannah Riverfront, exploring Hutchinson Island, or enjoying a meal at Vic’s on the River. He is especially drawn to high school and college track meets and enjoys staying connected to local athletics through SCCPSS Athletics.

Frederick is also involved with the Savannah Church of Christ, Maritime After Hours, and SODA, allowing him to stay connected to different parts of Savannah’s civic, business, and faith communities.

The Causes That Matter Most

Financial literacy and education remain at the center of Frederick’s community work.

He believes people make stronger decisions when they understand how money works and have access to information that is clear, practical, and relevant to their lives.

He is also passionate about fatherhood and fathers’ legal rights. For Frederick, strong families and strong communities are closely connected, and he values efforts that help fathers remain present, informed, and supported.

These interests reflect the same values that guide his professional life: education, responsibility, stability, and service.

Why Live Like Locals Was the Right Fit

Frederick was drawn to Live Like Locals because of its grassroots approach to building community.

He appreciates that the organization brings people together in a way that feels friendly, accessible, and genuine. The mission to help local businesses and community leaders grow is one he personally believes in and wants to support.

Frederick also brings years of radio experience to his Ambassador role. He plans to use that background to help promote local events, share community stories, and bring greater visibility to the businesses and organizations doing meaningful work across Savannah and the surrounding areas.

For him, being an Ambassador is another opportunity to connect people with resources, experiences, and relationships that can make a lasting difference.

Helping Local Businesses Grow and Give Back

As a Live Like Locals Ambassador, Frederick hopes to help small businesses become stronger and more visible within the community.

He understands that when local businesses grow, they are often able to create jobs, support families, sponsor events, and invest back into the places they serve.

That connection between business growth and community impact is one of the reasons the Ambassador role feels so meaningful to him.

Frederick brings decades of experience, a teacher’s mindset, and a genuine desire to help people move forward. Whether he is leading a financial workshop, supporting a local event, or introducing business owners to new opportunities, he plans to show up as a resource and a relationship-builder.

We are proud to have Frederick as part of the Live Like Locals Ambassador community and look forward to seeing how he continues to support Savannah’s families, businesses, and organizations.

Connect with Frederick through his Primerica website and keep an eye out for him at upcoming Live Like Locals events around the Coastal Empire.
