Welcome, Clearwave: Our Fiber Partner for November and December
Live Like Locals is proud to welcome Clearwave as a community partner for November and December 2026. Clearwave is a fiber internet company headquartered right here in Savannah, and for the next two months they will be with us at our markets, in our video content, and at the moments that bring this community together.
Clearwave first partnered with us in June, and we are glad to have them back for the holiday season. If you know them as Clearwave Fiber, there is a bigger story behind the shorter name.
Two fiber companies, one Clearwave
This year, Clearwave Fiber and Point Broadband came together as one company. The two announced their agreement in January and completed the combination on May 4, 2026.
Point Broadband was founded in 2017 in Opelika, Alabama, with a focus on bringing fiber internet to small towns and rural communities. Clearwave Fiber was formed in 2022 and calls Savannah home. Its roots include the fiber network once run by Hargray, a name many Lowcountry families will remember.
Together, they became one of the largest independent fiber internet companies in the country. The combined company operates in 12 states and reaches more than 500,000 homes and businesses, with a goal of passing 1 million. David Armistead, who led Clearwave Fiber, is CEO of the combined company. John Cinelli, chairman of Point Broadband and a co-founder of Metronet, serves as chairman.
Why it is now just Clearwave
With two companies becoming one, they wanted a new name and look to match. The company now goes by Clearwave, and Point Broadband customers are moving over to the Clearwave name, with clearwavefiber.com as the home for everyone.
For customers, the change comes with real upgrades:
- 24/7 technical support from a real person, up from set hours
- About an extra week to pay each bill
- New ways to pay, including PayPal and Venmo
- Real-time outage updates on the new website
The things people care about most stay the same. Plans, pricing, in-home equipment, and even your Wi-Fi name and password do not change.
Still growing
Clearwave is not slowing down. In September 2026, Clearwave signed an agreement to combine with Visionary Broadband, a fiber provider serving the Western U.S. since 1994. Once approved, the company will span 17 states and bring fiber access to about 700,000 homes and businesses.
As CEO David Armistead put it, “Scale only matters if it makes us better for the people we serve.”
Why this partnership fits
Live Like Locals exists to connect people with their community: the events, the small businesses, and the neighbors who make this place home. Clearwave does the same thing in a different way, by connecting homes and businesses with fast, reliable internet and a local team that picks up the phone.
It matters to us that Clearwave is a Savannah company. As they grow across the country, they keep showing up here at home, and we are glad to help tell that story.
